Step-by-Step
- Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C), and grease a 12-cavity donut pan thoroughly with nonstick spray.
- Combine the cake mix, milk, eggs, and vegetable oil in a large bowl. Stir just until the batter is smooth, taking care not to mix more than necessary.
- Transfer the batter to a piping bag or a zip-top bag with one corner snipped off. Pipe the batter into the donut cavities, filling each about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the tops spring back lightly when touched and a toothpick inserted into a donut comes out clean.
- Cool the donuts in the pan for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to a rack and let them cool completely.
- Whisk the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Dip the cooled donuts into the glaze and add sprinkles while the glaze is still wet.
Notes
Pipe the batter for evenly sized donuts and avoid overfilling, which can cause the donut holes to close. Cool the donuts fully before glazing so they do not absorb the glaze and leave a thin finish.
