Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 15.25-ounce box (432 g) Boxed cake mix, any flavor
  • 1 12 fl oz can (355 ml) Regular carbonated soda

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease one 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Empty the dry cake mix into a large bowl, pour in the entire can of soda, and stir just until the batter is evenly moistened and mostly smooth.
  2. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it into an even layer. Bake for 25–30 minutes, checking that the center springs back lightly and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  3. Let the cake cool in the pan for at least 15–20 minutes before slicing. Serve it plain, dusted with powdered sugar, or finished with optional frosting.

Notes

Use the full 12-ounce can of regular soda and avoid excessive mixing, which can make the cake dense or create an uneven texture. Regular soda usually provides the most reliable flavor and browning, although diet soda appears in some variations.
